Aug. 12, 2022 – Well-respected former provincial health minister Sharon Blady has thrown
her support support behind mayoral candidate Rana Bokhari.

Since her time as the NDP’s Minister of Health and Minister of Healthy Living for
Manitoba, Blady has dedicated her time helping forward mental health initiatives, working
with local groups and corporations to spur support, programming and reduce stigma.
Rana’s focus on what the city can do to make sure proper resources are forthcoming to help
city workers and citizens alike tackle our enormous mental health and addiction challenges,
is part of the reason behind the endorsement, said Blady.

“Over the years, I have come to know Rana, her values, and her passion for caring for
others. As a friend, and as a woman in the political world, I admire her passion, drive,
tenacity, and her unwillingness to back down from challenges, which is exactly what this city
needs to move forward.

“She and I both know the obstacles faced by those with mental health and acquired
dependency challenges, and she is the candidate I trust to deliver what is needed. Rana has
been talking with so many people and groups about this over the past several weeks, and I’m
excited for her to release her plan shortly.”

Rana said the endorsement from Blady was humbling.

“Sharon has so much experience dealing with these matters,” said Rana. “To know she’s in
my corner with her expertise and compassion means a great deal to me.”
